Cross-Platform Portfolio Consistency Without Duplicated Effort

A credible PMU portfolio does not need to be rebuilt for every platform. Create one complete, approved record for each publishable client case, then make channel specific versions from that source. Your website should hold the detailed case

A credible PMU portfolio does not need to be rebuilt for every platform. Create one complete, approved record for each publishable client case, then make channel-specific versions from that source. Your website should hold the detailed case and primary booking path; Instagram and Google Business Profile should support discovery and trust without becoming separate portfolios to maintain.

The result is less repeated uploading, fewer conflicting claims, and a clearer experience for prospective clients moving from a post to a consultation.

Give Every Channel One Clear Job

Trying to keep identical galleries on every platform creates drift. A service may be renamed on Instagram but not on the booking page; an immediate result may remain visible after a healed case is available; an old link may send a client to the wrong inquiry form.

Use a simple hierarchy instead:

Channel Primary Job What to Publish
Website Portfolio hub and booking destination Complete case studies, healed-result galleries, service terminology, booking information
Instagram Discovery and visual proof Selected images, concise context, a clear route to the website or booking page
Google Business Profile Local business presence A limited set of representative studio, service, and portfolio images
Consultation materials Decision support Relevant approved examples matched to the client's requested service and situation

Maintain the full version of a case in one place: your website portfolio record. Every other channel should point back to the same current booking destination and use the same service names.

For Google Business Profile, photos and videos appear on Google only after the profile is verified. A chosen cover image is also not guaranteed to be the image shown first, so treat the profile as a representative business presence rather than a tightly controlled gallery. Google Business Profile media guidance also sets current requirements for uploaded photos and videos.

Build a Master PMU Case Record

The case record is the system that prevents duplicate effort. It is not necessarily a public page. It is your internal source of truth for a client result, its publication permissions, and every approved version derived from it.

Create one record per publishable case with the following fields.

Required Record Fields

  • Case ID: Use an internal label rather than the client's name.
  • Publication consent status: Record what is permitted, where it may appear, any anonymization instructions, and how to respond if permission is withdrawn.
  • Service and technique name: Use the exact controlled wording used on your website, booking flow, and consultation materials.
  • Treatment and follow-up dates: Keep the procedure date and the healed or touch-up follow-up date distinct.
  • Result-stage label: Mark every asset as immediate, healed, touch-up, retouched, filtered, or unedited.
  • Approved master files: Store original, unedited images separately from cropped or compressed exports.
  • Approved public crops: Include the versions cleared for the website, social channels, Google Business Profile, and consultations.
  • Caption facts: Keep a short approved description of the service, technique, image stage, and booking call to action.
  • Publication log: Track where the image appears, its live URL, publication date, and any future refresh or removal date.

Add skin, correction, or procedure context only when it is appropriate, consented to, and necessary to explain the portfolio example. Public-facing case pages should not expose client identifiers or unnecessary treatment details.

A clear label matters more than a polished caption. "Immediately after procedure" and "Healed result, photographed at follow-up" communicate different information. Do not let an immediate image stand in for a healed result, and do not present one client outcome as a promise of a typical outcome.

Make Website Cases Useful and Accessible

Your website case page can carry the context that short-form channels cannot: service name, result stage, a small selection of approved images, and a direct booking route.

Informative portfolio images need text alternatives that communicate their essential information. For example, alt text might describe a "healed powder-brow result showing soft brown shading and a defined arch," rather than simply saying "PMU brows." Decorative images should use a null text alternative, while an image that functions as a booking link should describe its action rather than its appearance. W3C image accessibility guidance explains these distinctions.

Use consistent, descriptive filenames, image titles, and alt text for website assets. These practices help provide context for images, although they do not guarantee appearance in search results. Google's image documentation also notes that general search technical requirements apply to images.

Publish Derivatives, Not Duplicate Portfolios

Once a case is approved, create only the versions each channel needs.

For one healed PMU case, your package might include:

  • Website: A complete case entry with healed-result label, service name, accessible image descriptions, and booking link.
  • Instagram: A short carousel or video showing selected approved views, a visible healed-result label, concise context, and the same booking destination.
  • Google Business Profile: One representative image or short video that supports the business listing without attempting to reproduce the entire gallery.
  • Consultation reference: A private or in-studio visual card containing the relevant case context for an informed conversation.

Before uploading to Google Business Profile, export photos as JPG or PNG files between 10 KB and 5 MB. Videos can be up to 30 seconds, 75 MB, and 720p or higher. Check current platform requirements before publishing rather than treating any format specification as permanent.

Instagram content remains subject to the platform's applicable rules; Meta's Community Standards apply across Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Threads, including AI-generated content. Keep edits restrained and labels clear so an image remains an accurate representation of the documented case.

Run a Short Monthly Consistency Audit

A monthly review is usually enough to catch the drift that creates unnecessary maintenance later. Check a small set of live portfolio examples against the master record:

  1. Is the service name identical across the website, social profile, booking page, and consultation material?
  2. Is the image correctly labeled as immediate, healed, touch-up, retouched, or filtered?
  3. Does every profile lead to the same current booking destination?
  4. Is consent still active for every published asset?
  5. Does the publication log show every live placement, so removal or replacement can be handled quickly?

Do not measure the system only by likes or views. Review which channel sends prospects who understand the service, image stage, and booking process before they inquire.

Your Next 30 Days

Choose one primary booking destination. Standardize one portfolio case template. Then migrate a small set of your strongest healed cases into that system, update profile links and service terminology, and review which channel produces the most qualified consultations.
