PMU Cleansing Foam vs Liquid Cleanser: What's the Difference During a Procedure?
Foam and liquid PMU cleansers can both remove surface color, but they handle differently. Foam dispenses as visible lather, while liquid wets the wipe or treatment area without a ready-made foam layer. Neither format is automatically better: choose the one that lets you control the amount, lift residue, and see the outline clearly after cleanup.
What foam and liquid change at the working area
The useful distinction is how each format is dispensed and removed. With foam, the amount and placement of the lather are easy to see, although the bubbles must be cleared before you can inspect fine detail. A liquid can wet a pad evenly without first covering the area in lather, but using too much can create pooling or carry loosened color beyond the spot you intended to clean.
Format alone does not tell you how mild a cleanser is, how much it lathers, or how easily it rinses away. Those properties depend on the full formula and its surfactants, which influence lathering, skin feel, and rinsing behavior.
For either format, the useful endpoint is the same: you can distinguish the intended boundary from the surface color residue and see the area you are about to work on. A view through bubbles or a pool of tinted liquid is not that endpoint.
Compare foam and liquid during cleanup

Foam cleanser may suit artists who want visible dispensing and localized application. It is easy to see where the product has been placed and whether too much has been applied. The tradeoff is that the lather temporarily covers fine lines until it is wiped away.
Liquid cleanser may suit artists who prefer to moisten gauze or a pad without adding a foam layer. It can be spread through the wiping material before contact, but an over-wet pad may release more liquid than the small cleanup area needs.
For either format, use the amount specified for the product and judge the result after the cleanser and loosened pigment have been removed. The better choice is the one that leaves a clear working view without repeated cleanup passes.
